About:
I'm Aanya Kapoor, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student at Centre Point School, Katol Road, Nagpur. Like most of us, I have never had to wonder where my next meal would come from. Breakfast before school, lunch with friends, dinner with family: these felt like ordinary parts of the day until I began to realise how many children do not get them.
Think about a school day without enough food. You travel to school, sit through hours of classes, and play outside in the afternoon sun, all on an empty stomach. When I skip even one meal, I feel tired, get a headache, and cannot focus on what the teacher is saying. Many children from low-income families who study in government schools face this on a regular basis, and for some of them, a meal at school may be the only proper one they get that day.
This is why I am raising funds for Akshaya Patra's mid-day meal program, which provides meals to children at school. A hot meal in the middle of the day gives a child the energy to study and play, and a good reason to look forward to coming to school.
I may not be able to solve everything, but I can help make sure a child eats today. That is something I can do, and something you can help me do.
Through this campaign, I hope to raise enough funds to provide meals to as many children as possible. Every contribution, however small, goes towards meals served.
I invite you to donate and to share this page with your family and friends. A small act on your part can change what a child's school day feels like.
