About:
My name is Arjun Mandavilli. I am 14 years old and a Grade 9 student at Chirec International School (CBSE), Kondapur, Hyderabad.
I have undertaken this campaign and participated in it because I was surprised and deeply saddened to learn that many students from low-income (rural) homes in Telangana, who go to school (mainly government schools), do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag, and often sit on the hard ground to study at school.
Sitting down on the floor for long periods of time in hot and humid areas (in some areas) means 9 in 10 students will face posture-related problems. It also has an indirect impact on their eyesight, their mental wellness, their ability to concentrate and study, and their capability in gaining proper knowledge. Lack of footwear also leads to foot-related diseases and health issues. These are all considered part of their 'daily life' for these children, and they lead their lives as happily as they can with only what is available.
The back-to-school kit costs just INR 950 (INR - Rupees) and gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books (study material). This is a very small amount to impact a student and change the way they approach every day. Fund INR 3800, for example, and transform the lives of 4 students.
Please support my campaign by funding money for these children, and let us together impact the health, school attendance, and grades of these fellow students. This kit also brings a big smile to their faces and gives them a lot of confidence.
Thank you so much for taking your valuable time and supporting the rural, young, bright minds of Telangana, and fuelling their futures into brilliant and better ones.
