My name is Vivaan S. I am 17 years old and a Grade 12 student at Jayshree Periwal High School (JPHS), Jaipur.

There is an old saying: “Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.” But before anyone can learn to fish, they must first have the strength to stand.

As a student, my world revolves around classrooms, courts, and debate chambers. Every day, I am encouraged to ask questions, challenge ideas, and pursue opportunities that help me grow. Those experiences have taught me that success is rarely the result of talent alone—it begins with access to opportunity. And for millions of children, that opportunity begins with something many of us scarcely think about: a nutritious meal.

When I learned about Akshaya Patra’s work, I realised this was more than a meal programme. It was an investment in human potential. It wasn’t simply feeding children; it was removing one of the greatest barriers that keeps them from learning. That is why I chose to be a part of this campaign.

Education is often called the great equaliser. Yet for millions of children, hunger quietly tips the scales long before they ever enter a classroom. An empty stomach does not simply interrupt a lesson—it interrupts potential. It is difficult to dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, or an artist when your next meal is uncertain.

At first glance, Akshaya Patra serves food. In reality, it serves something far greater: attendance instead of absenteeism, concentration instead of distraction, dignity instead of dependence, and hope instead of uncertainty.

What I find remarkable is that the solution is neither revolutionary nor complicated. Sometimes, society’s greatest challenges are addressed not by extraordinary breakthroughs, but by ordinary acts repeated with extraordinary consistency. One nutritious meal. Every school day. Every child.

As students, we are often reminded that the future belongs to our generation. I would argue that the future belongs to the generation we choose to invest in. Every contribution to this campaign is more than charity—it is a vote of confidence in a child’s ability to learn, grow, and one day contribute back to society.

People often say that no donation is too small. I see it differently: the value of a contribution is measured not by its size, but by the opportunity it creates.
