About:
My name is Abhaye. I am 16 years old and a Grade 12 student at APL Global School, Chennai.
I have joined this campaign because I strongly support the idea of schools being an environment where students can focus on their studies and friends without worrying about health issues due to their schools ‘ equipment or financial circumstances. I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Tamil Nadu, who go to school (mainly govt. schools), do not even have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag, and often sit on the hard ground in order to study at school.
This not only leads to posture problems for most students, but also indirectly affects their eyesight and ability to focus during class. Additionally, a lack of proper footwear exposes their feet to sharp and infected objects that can cause several foot related diseases and injuries.
The back-to-school kit costs just INR 950 and gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books. This is a very small amount but makes a large impact on every student. Fund INR 3800, for example, and transform the lives of four (4) students.
Please support my campaign and let us together impact the health, school attendance, and grades of these fellow students who deserve a proper chance to educate themselves and therefore improve their lives. Every fund will work towards improving India’s education quality and serving the future generations via each and every student given this kit. And undoubtedly each kit received would bring a huge smile to their faces and improve their self-esteem!
