My name is Uddhav Sarna I am 14 years old and a Grade 9 student at the Sanskriti School, New Delhi.
I started this campaign discovering that many students from low-income families in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, especially those in government schools, lack basic school essentials like proper footwear and school bags. Many of them are forced to sit on hard floors and have to walk to school barefoot to study.
Having no proper footwear they often face foot related issues and other health problems. Sitting on the ground for long hours can cause posture problems for many students. It also affects their focus at school and harms their eyesight over time.
A back-to-school kit that costs just INR 950 can make a real difference. It includes a pair of recycled shoes, a recycled study mat, and a recycled school bag for carrying books. All of this recycled equipment is made from the 350000000+ shoes and millions of other textile items thrown out each year in India. This waste accounts for 50% of the pollution in India and would require 4 cities the size of Delhi to accommodate it.
Even a small contribution can create meaningful change, helping turn waste into opportunity for these children.
