My name is Anoushka Oak. I am 12 years old and a Grade 7 student at The J. B. Petit High School
for Girls, Mumbai.

I have undertaken this campaign because I would like to help others who are not as fortunate as I am. I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Maharashtra, who go to school (mainly govt schools) do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag, and often sit on the hard ground to study at school, unlike us students who have chairs to sit on and desks.

Sitting down on the floor for long periods of time means 9 in 10 students will face posture-related problems. It also has an indirect impact on their eyesight and their ability to concentrate and study. Lack of footwear also leads to injuries and foot-related health issues.

What can INR 950 get you? It can get you nine litres of petrol or two cups of coffee and a sandwich at a coffee shop or it can make a big difference to a student’s life! The back-to-school kit gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books, all for INR 950! It would help them a lot and they would really appreciate your support.
