About:
My name is Alhan Maredia. I am 14 years old and a Grade 9 student at Ecole Mondiale World School, Mumbai.
I began this campaign after realizing how many students from low income families in Maharashtra, especially those studying in government schools, do not have basic school essentials like proper footwear, a school bag, or even a mat to sit on. Many children are forced to sit on hard classroom floors just to learn.
Sitting on the ground for long hours can cause serious posture problems for most students. It also affects their eyesight, concentration, and ability to focus in class. Not having proper footwear further exposes them to foot related diseases and other health issues.
A complete back to school kit costs just INR 950. It includes recycled footwear, a recycled study mat so students can sit comfortably at school or at home, and a recycled school bag to carry their books. Even this small amount can make a real difference for the under privileged. For example, funding INR 4,750 can change the lives of five students.
By supporting my campaign, you can help improve these children’s health, school attendance, and academic performance. More than anything, this kit gives them confidence, dignity, and a genuine smile as they continue their education.
