My name is Sahana. I am 13 years old and a Grade 9 student at APL Global School, Chennai.

I have always believed that even a small action can make a big impact, especially when it comes to supporting girls and women. Being able to help in any matters related to equality and safety for women is really meaningful to me.

When I was younger, access to basic period products was normalized in my home, but I soon realized that wasn’t the case for many others. Over the years, I've grown more aware on how issues like lack of sanitation and proper products affect girls and women in ways that often go unnoticed and uncared for.

These problems aren’t chosen, they’re forced. Forced upon women who simply can not access the right menstrual products.

I believe that menstrual health is not just about hygiene, it’s about dignity, education, safety, and equality. When a girl misses school because they don’t have access to safe products, it affects their academic progress, self-esteem, and long-term opportunities. When a woman misses work, they lose the ability to bring a stable income, affecting them and their family.

In order to provide a secure space around menstrual health, hygiene kits containing reusable pads will be distributed. It contains 5 pads: 3 for medium flow and 2 for heavy flow. This not only solves the issue of lack of period products, but it also reduces waste and is cost-effective. The pads last for 18 months, costing INR 500 per kit. That's just INR 50-100 per month.

By starting this campaign, I hope to contribute to creating a supportive environment where girls and women feel seen, respected, and empowered. I believe real change can happen when a community bands together and supports an important cause.
