My name is Sidarrtha Vetri.

I began this campaign because something I learned truly stayed with me. I was shocked to discover that many children from low-income families across Tamil Nadu—especially those who study in government schools—attend school every day without even the most basic essentials. Many of them walk long distances without proper footwear. Many carry their books in their hands because they don’t have a school bag. And most of them sit on the hard ground throughout the school day because they do not have a mat or a proper place to sit.

It’s heartbreaking to imagine children trying to read, write, and learn while sitting on the floor for hours. This daily discomfort leads to posture issues for nearly 9 out of 10 students. It affects their concentration, their eyesight, and their confidence. Without footwear, they also face frequent cuts, infections, and foot-related health problems—difficulties no child should have to endure just to receive an education.

A simple back-to-school kit costing just INR 950 can completely change this experience for a child. Each kit includes recycled footwear, a sturdy recycled school bag, and a comfortable recycled study mat. These small items—things many of us take for granted—give a child dignity, comfort, and the freedom to focus on learning.
