As a female myself and one that grew up in a wealthy and loving household, menstrual hygiene is seen as the norm. And I assumed it was like that everywhere. Until, I was proved absolutely wrong.

I was very surprised to find out most women and girls, don’t even have basic hygiene provided to them that they resort to unsanitary and harmful means. It a huge issue, yet no one bats an eye. Now one may think, what’s the solution to this devastating issue?

Well the solution is to give them something.. cost effective, something.. that’d benefit them, while also not causing harm to our surroundings, something like.. a cost-effective menstrual hygiene kit. Where it lasts long, and is not too bulky. It impacts their health, education, and income in a good manner— which results into greater confidence and self-esteem.

The Hygiene kit that is being used is unique as it is reusable. It has 5 pads - 3 for medium flow and 2 for heavy flow. It lasts for 18 months and dramatically reduces the amount of waste created (as otherwise pads are dumped every month). As they last for so long, they are also cost-effective. Disposable/Normal sanitary pads have to be bought repeatedly, cost INR 50-100 per month, and are very damaging to the environment as they create huge waste.

The cost of this hygiene kit (including distribution, training the women/girls, etc) is just INR 500 per pack of 5. The cost of distribution and training them is very high, as it's done in small batches. A small contribution can make a big difference. Fund INR 3000 for example and transform the lives of 6 girls/women.
