My name is Nikhil Mandava. I am 13 years old and a Grade 8 student at Chirec International School (IB) in Hyderabad. I am running this campaign to help Make-A-Wish India bring hope, strength, and joy to children battling life-threatening illnesses. For these children, a single wish can transform despair into courage and help them see beyond their illness.
My personal journey in school has taught me the value of determination and innovation. I've achieved the Bronze award in the American Math Olympiad (AMO) 2023, won first place in the competitive CHIREC Hackathon, reached the third round in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), and placed 4th internationally in the International Economics Olympiad (IEO). I am also passionate about sports, having won several badminton tournaments. These experiences have instilled in me the belief that with the right support, any obstacle can be overcome, and this campaign aims to provide that critical support to children who need it most.
Each wish costs just INR 10,000, but its impact is truly priceless. Since 1995, Make-A-Wish India has granted over 95,000 wishes in partnership with 120+ hospitals and 8 regional chapters to lift the spirits of those who need it most. Wishes generally fall into four core categories:
“I wish to go”: Funding trips or experiences to places children dream of visiting.
“I wish to meet”: Arranging meetings with heroes or inspiring personalities.
“I wish to be”: Helping children live out a special role or dream for a day.
“I wish to have”: Providing a special gift or item that brings profound joy.
Every wish, no matter how big or small, makes a lasting difference in a child’s healing journey, giving them an added incentive to fight their disease and improving their emotional well-being.
