My name is Pranika Verma. I am 12 years old and a Grade 8 student at Modern School ,Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.
I have chosen to undertake this campaign because i was astonished to know that many children from rural areas have a hard time finding affordable, good quality, long lasting school supplies such a bags, mats, blackboards slippers etc....
Usually when we think of bags and shoes we think of the latest style and fashion, often focusing on looks and trends forgetting about the true functionality of these goods. Many privileged people buy different shoes and throw them away after few months of used and i would be lying if i said that these goods don't go to landfills and garbage dumps. But on the other side we see that many under privileged kids can hardly afford normal shoes, bags, school supplies let alone follow the latest "trends".
Not only is this a problem with overconsumption but is a problem for the kids in the rural areas, not being able to follow their passion and study due to the lack of funds. We may or not see the true reality but these poor children often face many challenges every single day just to go to school and study.
But even after facing these challenges the education of these children doesn't get any easier.

The children usually take roads to school that aren't very well built...Their shoes often break or tear leading to them walking barefoot to school, walking barefoot in general poses many health hazards leading to diseases like planter warts, tetanus, fungal infections etc. again limiting their education.

Worldwide 35,00,00,000 pairs of shoes are thrown away almost 50% of them being in good condition.
The greensole foundation works on recycling these shoes to actively battle climate change and give these children the school life they deserve, just like us.
