My name is VIVAAN PAYAL. I am 12-years-old and a Grade 7 student at EuroSchool, Bannerghatta, Bengaluru.

I have undertaken this campaign because I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Karnataka, who go to school (mainly govt schools), do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag, and often sit on the hard ground in order to study at school.

Sitting down on the floor for long periods of time means 9 in 10 students will face posture-related problems. It also has an indirect impact on their eyesight and their ability to concentrate and study. Lack of footwear also leads to foot-related diseases and health issues.

The back-to-school kit costs just INR 950 and gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books. This is a very small amount to impact a student. Fund INR 2850, for example, and transform the lives of 3 students.

I am running this campaign to help Make-A-Wish India bring hope, strength, and joy to children battling life-threatening illnesses. For these children, a single wish can transform despair into courage and help them see beyond their illness. This is done with partner hospitals in Bengaluru.

Each wish costs INR 10,000, but its impact is priceless. Since 1995, Make-A-Wish India has granted over 1,00,000 wishes in partnership with 120+ hospitals and 8 regional chapters. Wishes generally fall into four categories: “I wish to go” – trips or experiences to places they dream of visiting, “I wish to meet” – meeting their heroes or inspiring personalities, “I wish to be” – living out a special role or dream for a day, and “I wish to have” – receiving a special gift or item that brings joy. Every wish, no matter how big or small, makes a lasting difference in a child’s healing journey.
