About:
Hi, my name is Gurnoor Chawla. I am 13 years old and studying in 8th grade at JBCN International School, Oshiwara. I like football, horse riding and dance, and I also like to support campaigns that are close to my heart, such as 'Water Wheel' for rural women who walk long distances to fetch drinkable water.
This is a campaign that will transform the lives of women in rural Maharashtra who are saddled with the inconvenient task of walking long distances to get water. The task is time-consuming and very burdensome. It causes back and neck aches. The women also spend hours getting water & waste time - time that could be used to do something more productive and generate income elsewhere.
I was thrilled and surprised to learn about the Water Wheel. This is a simple, sustainable, and revolutionary innovation, which is an easy-to-use efficient transport system that can hold up to 45 liters of water and provides the household with enough water for over a day. The handles can be removed in seconds so that it can also be used as a storage container. It's very durable and will last for years. It also brings about a massive behavioral change, as men have started using it to get water.
Please support my campaign and let us together bring joy to more women in these tribal areas. The 'Water wheels' will be distributed by the team from the Rotary Club of Hanging Gardens with their local partners. The cost of doing this (including identifying the women, the cost of the water wheel, and the actual distribution) is only INR 3000 per water wheel, making it truly a revolutionary idea. Let's together impact and bring positive change in the lives of these women in rural areas of Maharashtra.
Thank you, and looking forward to your support.
