My name is Ananya Srinivas. I am 15 years old and a Grade 10 student at Whitefield Global School, Bangalore.

I'm just like any other teenager — juggling school, having fun with friends, and figuring out the homework - but I wanted to do something bigger. When my school announced that we will be taking part in a crowdfunding campaign to support girls who have lost their parents, it sparked my interest. I felt a need to help these girls in some way and this campaign provides a perfect opportunity to change their lives. I have taken up this initiative because I think being able to impact the lives of young girls - girls of my age - would be incredible. These girls have no one to look after them and it helps us realise the value of everything dear in our life. Makkala Dhama will transform their lives as they grow up in a secure environment that will help them focus on their studies and lives. The girls are provided with accommodation, food, clothing, medical care, stationery, books, etc. They attend nearby schools.

The cost to impact a girl for 4.5 months is just INR 15,000. The shelter home will provide all the necessary facilities to help them grow into independent and responsible adults. This campaign will give them hope and comfort and will positively impact their lives.
