About:
My name is Debosmita, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student at Adamas International School, Kolkata. I have launched a campaign to support children with cancer and their families by providing a monthly ration basket, addressing a critical yet often overlooked aspect of their treatment.
This initiative is vital because nutrition plays an essential role in the challenging journey of fighting cancer. While many individuals and organizations support the medical treatment of financially strained patients, few address the equally important issue of food and nutrition. Children from low-income families are frequently malnourished, which hinders their response to treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. Malnutrition increases toxicity, disrupts hospital stays, delays full-dose chemotherapy, and raises therapy abandonment rates, doubling the risk of death from cancer.
With a modest cost of ₹4500 per child, this campaign can make a significant difference.
