About:
My name is Saura Nayar. I’m 15 years old and currently studying in Grade 11 at The Kalyani School, Pune.
Through this campaign, I aim to support children undergoing cancer treatment and their families by providing them with a monthly ration basket.
I chose to take up this initiative because proper nutrition plays a crucial role in the recovery of children battling cancer. While many generous individuals and organizations step in to fund medical treatment for families in need, very few focus on an equally important aspect -- Ensuring access to nutritious food.
Children from low-income families are often malnourished. This makes them less responsive to treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery. It also increases the chances of severe side effects, delays in hospital care, and missed doses, all of which lead to a weaker response to treatment. Malnutrition also raises the risk of therapy being abandoned and doubles the chances of death due to cancer.
The cost to support one child with essential nutrition is just INR 4500.
