About:
My name is Fiyana Shah, and I am a Grade 9 student at Sishya School, Adyar, Chennai. I initiated this campaign upon realizing that many students from low-income backgrounds in Tamil Nadu, particularly those attending government schools, lack essential school gear such as proper footwear, school bags, and even a suitable place to sit while studying. These basic necessities, which significantly impact a child’s ability to learn, are often unavailable to them.
Sitting on the hard floor for extended periods leads to posture-related problems in nearly 90% of students, affecting their concentration, eyesight, and overall health. Furthermore, the absence of proper footwear exposes them to various foot-related diseases and infections. These challenges not only make learning difficult but also affect students’ confidence and school attendance.
To address this, a Back-to-School Kit has been designed, costing just INR 950. Each kit includes a pair of recycled footwear to protect their feet, a recycled study mat to ensure comfort in class and at home, and a recycled school bag for carrying books with dignity. A contribution of INR 2850 can support three students, providing them with essential resources for a healthier and more comfortable learning experience.
This initiative is a small step toward ensuring that every student has the fundamental tools needed to focus on their education without unnecessary obstacles. I invite you to support this campaign and help transform the lives of these students, giving them the confidence, comfort, and motivation they need to succeed.
