My name is Hrithvi Agarwal . I am 14 -years old and a Grade 9 student at the Chirec Intl School (CBSE), Hyderabad.

I am one who believes in helping those underprivileged and vulnerable. It brings me immense joy to uplift them. I think of it as an honour to be able to benefit others and make a difference in another’s life and to bring them comfort.

We think of it normally for females to have the basic facility of a sanitary pad and do not consider it a luxury. But it not the case for women and girls who come from families in poverty or with low income, it is considered a luxury to be able to have them. Unfortunately, these females are not provided with these menstrual needs and have to habituate with unhygienic practices which lead to health issues. That is that with the problem, the solution being providing them with a menstrual hygiene kit. These kits are last long , are sufficient, comfortable and cost effective. These kits enhance their confidence, help manage work and education and maintain income.

The Hygiene kit that is being given is unique as it is reusable. It has 5 pads - 3 for medium flow and 2 for heavy flow. It lasts for 18-months and reduces the amount of waste created (as otherwise pads are dumped every month). As they last for so long they are also cost effective. Disposable/Normal sanitary pads have to be bought repeatedly, cost INR 50-100 per month, and are very damaging to the environment as they create huge waste.

The cost of this hygiene kit (including distribution, training the women/girls, etc) is just INR 500 per pack of 5. The cost of distribution and training them is very high as it's done in small batches.
