Hi. My name is Hrishikesh Srinidhi, a student of class 12th studying in Delhi Public School B'lore North. I have an intense passion for aviation and would like to become an airline pilot. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. It is one of nine types of muscular dystrophy. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. A student of my school, Karanveer has this condition but he and his father represent the bright future of children with this condition. I draw inspiration from Karanveer's father. He is a man who saw a real issue faced by thousands of children faced with this complex genetic condition and took it head on to make a meaningful contribution to their lives. His dedication and ambition for this goal is truly awe inspiring and motivational especially for the next generation. DART's research work is pioneering and is close to a breakthrough for this condition. I've been a schoolmate of Karanveer for a long time now and his life has given me great insight into the daily life and routine of children with DMD. The fact that there are children who could do with better therapy and facilities and that I have the opportunity to make a significant difference in their lives gives me the drive to do the same. It would be a truly charitable deed to better the lives of these children and a even a small contribution from your end would make a meaningful difference to these children and their families.
