My name is Arslan. I am 13-years old and a Grade 8 student at DPS, Bangalore North (Cambridge).
I have undertaken this campaign because I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Karnataka, who go to school (mainly govt schools) do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag and often sit on the hard ground in order to study at school.
Sitting on the floor for extended periods causes 90% of students to develop posture-related issues. It also indirectly affects their vision and their ability to focus and learn. Additionally, the lack of footwear results in foot-related diseases and health complications.
The back-to-school kit costs only INR 950 and provides students with a pair of recycled shoes, a recycled study mat for comfortable seating at school or home, and a recycled school bag for their books. This is a very modest amount to make a significant impact on a student’s life. For instance, donating INR 1900 can transform the lives of two students.
