My name is Kabir Sahni. I am 13 years old and a Grade 9 student at DPS, R.K Puram, New Delhi.

I study in a school where we have tables, chairs, good shoes, colorful bags, etc. But have you ever thought of those children who don't have that. There are millions of children my age who do not have shoes, bags, or even proper desks. Recently, I learnt that FuelADream has undertaken a campaign to provide students from low-income homes in Haryana with a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books. I immediately jumped at the chance of helping out my fellow brothers and sisters who do not enjoy the basic school gear which I take for granted.

I have undertaken this campaign because I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Haryana, who go to school (mainly govt schools) do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag and often sit on the hard ground in order to study at school. Sitting down on the floor for long periods of time means 9 in 10 students will face posture-related problems. It also has an indirect impact on their eyesight and their ability to concentrate and study. Lack of footwear also leads to foot-related diseases and health issues.

The back-to-school kit costs just INR 900 and gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, and a recycled school bag for books. This is a very small amount to impact a student. Fund INR 3600 for example and transform the lives of 4 students.
