I am Kavish Contractor, 16 years old, in Grade 11 at the Jamnabai Narsee International School, Mumbai.

The objective of this initiative is to spread awareness about the difficulties faced by students in rural areas of Maharashtra and how We can help improve their health, attendance, and concentration at school.

Students in some of the rural pockets of Maharashtra do not have access to basic necessities for school. Walking a considerable distance to school every day is already a big challenge, and barefoot makes it worse, leading to foot-related injuries and hindering their attendance. They also do not have proper backpacks to carry their books, water, and tiffin, making the journey to school even more difficult. The sad reality of some of the remote rural schools is that they do not even have the bare minimum furniture, and the children have to sit on the ground, be it winters, summers, or monsoons, affecting their comfort, concentration, and motivation to study.

It saddens me to know that these basic comforts which WE have are a farfetched luxury for these students in rural schools. I have taken this initiative for my fellow students to enhance their overall school experience, and YOUR support will mean a lot to EACH of them.

We have created a Back-To-School Kit that provides the students with a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home, a recycled school bag to carry books / tiffin, and a cloth mask. All this for a very small amount of INR 900. A simple fund of INR 3600 can transform the lives of four children.

With your support, WE can provide these children with the basic necessities and create a better environment for them to study, learn and feel motivated with a big smile. Together, we can impact the health, school attendance, and grades of these fellow students.
