My name is Ayushi Chauhan. I am Marketing Executive at Maccaferri India.
This campaign of mine is for a cause that is very relevant and has a high impact. Am doing this initiative as a concerned citizen.
This is an initiative that will change the course of life for millions - literally. When is the last time that you have heard of all of us coming together to bring a mighty river back to life by planting trees ? The River Cauvery (spelt Kaveri sometimes) originates in Coorg ( Karnataka) and then finally drains into the Bay Of Bengal in Tamil Nadu. Here are some relevant facts about the Cauvery.
- Did you know the water supply to Bengaluru city is dependent on the Cauvery ? The water stored in Thorekadanahalli is pumped up to provide water for Bengaluru city.
- Did you know that during its 805 km journey the Cauvery impacts 80 mn people (That is the population of UK +Portugal) across TN, Karnataka, Puducherry and parts of Kerala.
- It is the key source of drinking water, irrigation water and electricity to millions.
- Rural folk, Urban folk, farmers all have their lives linked to this river and its water levels are dropping at an alarming rate.
