The pandemic has changed our lives in a myriad of ways. As we settle into the new normal, the most notable difference is how we keep ourselves and our personal effects safe by sanitizing and disinfecting. This brilliant innovation by Aditya Pachpande will surely help in this regard.

Suraksha Box is a UVC light sterilization box, which has been certified to protect against COVID-19.The box has a mesh on which the items are placed and subjected to UVC light in a controlled environment. It has a range of around 240 nanometers, which is optimum to destroy RNA and DNA of viruses. This was launched on October 2 2020, with a Government of India (MC&I) patent published. It has also been approved and certified by the CSIR-CMERI of the Government of India. This box could solve one of the biggest problems that households face – of disinfecting vegetables (on which neither soap nor alcohol-based sanitizers cannot be used).

The Suraksha Box will ensure that the underprivileged in Maharashtra can disinfect their items and stay safe. This will reduce their risk of falling sick and thereby help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
