My name is Saumya Singh I am 17 years old and in Grade 12 at DPS Greater Noida.

Covid-19 is a human , economic and social crisis . It is attacking societies at their core . The most drastic repercussion is faced by poor, migrants and daily wage workers . For girls and women from financially weak backgrounds, the issue is compounded by the inaccessibility of menstrual hygiene measures. What we take for granted - sanitary napkins is a luxury for them. It is scary reality that girls and women in rural areas are using not just clothes but also hay during their menstruation which is causing a lot of infections to them.

The solution is to give them a menstrual hygiene pack that contains 5 reusable pads .The pads are reusable, create no trash, lasts for 2 years and are cost-effective. Disposable sanitary pads have to be bought repeatedly, cost INR 50-100 per month, and create massive disposal problems. The cost of this kit (including distribution) is just INR 300.
