My name is Jitisha Sablaka. I am 16 years old and a Grade 11 student at the Chirec International School in Hyderabad.

COVID-19 has impacted millions of people and among them the worst-hit are the poor, migrants, and daily wage workers.Even Hyderabad and Telangana have not been spared and we are seeing its impact all around us. There has been a surge in cases and the situation is only getting worse. The biggest concern at present is the need for food. The most noble Covid-19 measure one can take up now is to feed them.

At this juncture, it is our utmost responsibility as the privileged sections of the society to step up and support them through this difficult time. The initiative I am doing with Akshaya Patra is to help feed thousands of people. Akshaya Patra has already served and distributed over 5 CRORE meals across India and over 60 lakh meals in Telangana itself. But the need for more meals still continues.
