My name is Aditi Reddy Aalati. I am 16 years old and a Grade 12 student at Chirec International School.

When the Corona Virus pandemic started, I was as shook as anybody else. A month into the pandemic I read about how the underprivileged are struggling due to job loss and no basic needs. I thought of what I could have done as my contribution to the society and started off my supplying basic needs (rice, pulses, sanitisers, etc) to the slums near by my locality. The next trip I took was to 2 local orphanages of Tapaswi foundations and supplied basic needs and also spoke a little about how to stay safe during this pandemic. Understanding my privileges, I decided to start a fund, Vasumati Devi and Jungamma foundation, which will help the underprivileged with basic needs, children education, medical needs not only during the pandemic but after that also. The foundation has not yet started.

These times have definitely taught me about how privileged we are to get 3 full meals daily and the underprivileged would fight for one. I would like to do what I can from my part to the community.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways. Perhaps the hardest hit is the daily wage earners, migrant labour and the financially poor. Even after the lockdown is lifted, their plight remains the same as jobs will be scarce. They fear starvation more than the virus itself.

We are the privileged ones and it is our duty to must step up to help them through these difficult times. I request all of you to support my campaign so that we can also ease their hardship in our own small way. This campaign aims to provide meals and bottled water to them across Hyderabad and is done by Akshaya Patra( through their kitchens) in close coordination with the local administration. Let's come together and do our bit to help our fellow countrymen.
