THE BACKGROUND:
Horse riding is the freedom of the soul, a sacred bond built on unconditional trust, humility, and faith.
I am Ved Sarma Sarkar. Growing up as a student at The Bishop's School, Camp (Pune), I found a passion that transcends the ordinary, discovering that a horse is not just an animal, but a partner in a silent, powerful language. Equestrian sport is a unique Olympic discipline where human and horse become a single, synchronised unit, demanding a level of teamwork and dedication found nowhere else in the sporting world.
MY JOURNEY:
Equestrian is a sport where partnerships are built over years, where riders know every stride and every instinct of their horse. I learned to adapt, to listen faster, to trust deeper, as I did not grow up with a horse of my own.
While others trained on their own mounts, I rode borrowed horses. I navigated different temperaments and different rhythms, often with just hours to understand a horse before stepping into the intensity of competition. Yet, in that challenge, I found my edge. I discovered that riding is the "freedom of my soul". This adaptability has carried me from a summer camp in Pune at age 11 to the global stage today.
Equestrianism is a uniquely challenging sport that demands a seamless partnership between horse and rider, built on unconditional trust and teamwork. It encompasses diverse disciplines such as Show Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing, which test the athlete’s precision, agility, and endurance across varied terrain. At its highest levels, the sport requires years of rigorous training and deep dedication to master the art of communication with a high-performance animal.

I got the best international training across the world and had an amazing family support, but the missing link is that I now require INR 5.5 Lakhs to compete in international competitions and turn my 2032 Olympic dream into a tangible reality.

THE VISION: 2030 ASIAN GAMES AND 2032 OLYMPICS
Equestrianism is one of the most expensive sports in the world. I have been fortunate to train under coaches like Sydney 2000 Olympian Imtiaz Anees, who saw beyond my limitations and pushed me to be sharper and calmer every day. Their belief shaped my discipline.
But the road to Olympic Gold requires more than belief. It requires opportunity:
Consistent Partnerships: The ability to secure and train with high-performance horses.
Elite Exposure: Competing at international hubs like Bahrain (2025).
Advanced Infrastructure: Bridging the gap between national success and international mastery.
THE MILESTONE SO FAR:
Despite resource limitations, I focused on precision and patience, which helped me to get shortlisted for India at the Asian Youth Games 2025.
INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE:
I have already received world-class training across the globe:
France: Le Cadre Noir, Saumur (Training with Riding Masters).
Northern Ireland: Cullen Equine Solutions (Cross-country training with eventers).
New Zealand: Donna Smith Eventing (Training with an acclaimed Eventer).
USA: Currently training at BDJ Equestrian in Florida under Bruce Davidson Jr. (formerly ranked #1 in the USA).
FUTURE PLANS:
Every athlete’s journey is built by many hands, coaches, grooms, mentors, and supporters. These are the people who choose to believe before the world does.
