There are children whose immune systems are not equipped to fight against these nasty infections and they are constantly in hospitals. The serious cases often turn fatal. The only way for them to lead a normal life is through a regular monthly treatment that the doctors at the Aster Hospital in Bangalore provide. These kids come from families where the parents don’t have enough money to afford this expensive treatment.

WHAT ARE PRIMARY IMMUNODEFICIENCY DISEASES?
1 in every 2000 children have a condition known as Primary Immunodeficiency disease. This means that their body doesn’t fight harmful outside organisms. Even a common cold can be life-threatening for these kids. They require an Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) injection every month to keep diseases at bay. The cost of this medicine is dependent on the weight of the child.

In addition there are costs of the doctor & hospital charges that can add upto 10000 INR or more per month .The Aster CMI Hospital is waiving this amount as this treatment is for those kids who cannot afford these costs.
However, there is an even bigger problem. In India, less than 2% of kids with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases are actually diagnosed with it. Most cases of it go undiagnosed and unreported. Parents run from pillar to post with children who are constantly sick and suffering multiple times from life-threatening diseases.
Not only do the kids suffering from these diseases need help with the cost of their medication, but Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases require a lot more awareness so that many more children who are living with these diseases can gain access to the right kind of care and medication. Luckily, we have reached a stage where Diagnostics and therapeutics can diagnose, control and cure the ailments that affect these children.
ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is N.M. I am in grade 6 in Canadian International School. I am 11 years old. My favourite food is pizza. I like playing cricket and soccer. In cricket I bowl and in soccer I play as midfield. I was born in Luton, England, but I'm of Indian origin and I currently live in Bangalore, India. I really want to go ice-skating and scuba-diving. I enjoy playing with my uncle and aunt's pet dog. I like to play digital games, such as minecraft and hill climb racing 2. My favourite movies are Transformers 4 and Doctor Strange. In my free time I play on my table tennis table, Wii, wave board, trampoline and cycle. I enjoyed going dune dashing and quad riding in deserts, especially in Dubai. I enjoy winter in the U.K. and playing in the snow. I'm looking forward to visiting America.
Children do not belong in hospitals, they deserve to have a full and healthy life with the luxury of playing outdoors and making friends. The reality that these children have such a tough time with activities that we all take for granted has really resonated with me. It has encouraged me to get behind this cause and run this campaign.
Doing this ensures that one more child gets a chance to go out and play rather than suffer at home. Healthcare is a human right and research in the field needs to be continuously evolving to make sure that it is easier to diagnose and treat people with life-threatening disease like Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases.

My Experience
On the 6th of June 2017 I went to Aster CMI hospital with my grade. When we reached, the first thing I noticed there was Café Coffee Day. Then I realised that the hospital was bigger and calmer than other hospitals. We had to be very quiet and respectful there. We went into a presentation room on the first floor which had enough chairs for everyone. There a lady told us about the Aster group, the features of this particular hospital and the differences of the Aster CMI hospital compared to other hospitals. After that a doctor told us about the immune system and how it works. Then we saw two cartoons to understand about how the immune system works. He told us that we were fundraising to help children who had immune disorders. Finally, they served a really tasty lunch and took us on a tour of the hospital.
FAQs
Will we get to know details of the child who benefitted?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Aster Sick Kids Foundation who will then work with the hospital. It will take approximately 30 days after the campaign gets over , to get details of who the beneficiary child is with their details .Once I get this information from the team at Aster CMI Hospital I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiary.
What are the crowdfunding charges?
Fueladream charges 2% for the payment for the payment gateway and 7% as crowdfunding charges. With service tax the total comes to 10.3%. There is also an initial fee of 3000 INR which is being waived for us. Of the 20000 INR a net amount of 17930 INR will be transferred to the Aster Sick Kids Foundation.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes a week after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly by email.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly. It’s s concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online.
