THE PROBLEM
In the urban slums of Chennai, many women face an uncertain future due to low household incomes and limited employment opportunities. This severely impacts economically poor families. Despite their eagerness to work and contribute to household income, these women struggle to make ends meet. Thousands of such women need assistance to acquire skills, earn a livelihood, and enhance their earnings.
Therefore, there is an urgent need for these women to be involved in income-generating activities. The project aims to support such women, stand on their own feet and achieve financial independence.
THE SOLUTION
This campaign, in partnership with Danirasa Foundation, an NGO based in Chennai, aims to provide a livelihood to these women by training them and giving them access to sewing machines at the Danirasa Foundation centre located at Pattabiram, Chennai. The facility currently has 21 machines, and the plan is to procure 100 more sewing machines to impact more women. The sewing machines are from a brand called Jack.
These women are provided training in tailoring for 2 hrs/day for 6 days/week for 3 months. On completion of the course, they come to the centre and make products as Danirasa Foundation works with different firms who place orders for garments/products for the domestic and export market. These women earn a living by generating incomes of between INR 6000 to INR 12000 per month. This will help them lead a dignified life.
The cost of a machine is INR 24000 with 2 years of free service and the stand. The machine is used by 2 women (as they have 2 shifts). The training is for 2 hrs/day for 6 days/week for 3 months. The cost of training a woman over 3 months with trainer costs, consumable cost etc is only INR 7000.

My name is ANKITA. I am 14-years-old and a Grade 9 student at ABC School.
I am doing this campaign to help underprivileged women and give them a livelihood. The beneficiaries are from in and around Chennai. This will give them a sustainable livelihood by providing them with suitable training and access to sewing machines. This will completely transform their lives and also impact their families.
The fact that it costs just INR 19000 to impact a woman is amazing. I was surprised to learn that with just this much, they can have a sustainable livelihood. Through this campaign, I aim to transform the lives of many underprivileged women and their families. This will make them financially independent and impact their families for generations to come.

ABOUT THE NGO
Danirasa Foundation, based in Chennai, has been dedicated to women's empowerment for over a decade. In 2017, they launched The Danirasa Kitchen in Thiruninravur with the dual mission of providing nutritious meals to underserved communities and creating sustainable employment opportunities for women.
Starting from a modest 400 sq. ft. space, the kitchen has expanded to a 5,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with modern machinery. It is entirely operated by women, offering them a stable source of income and fostering self-sufficiency. The kitchen now prepares breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner—serving approximately 5,000 beneficiaries, including children, the elderly, and the homeless
Danirasa Foundation has also contributed to building a state-of-the-art kitchen to serve the poor in Chennai. Their efforts have been particularly impactful during crises; for instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters like Cyclone Michaung, the kitchen staff and volunteers prepared and distributed thousands of meals to affected communities

FAQs
Will we get to know the details of how the money was spent?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Danirasa Foundation. It will take from 60 to 120 days after that to get details of who the beneficiary was with details of them. Once I get this information from them I shall upload the picture of the beneficiary on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to the NGO. The receipts will start getting processed about 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
