Cyclone Fani (pronounced “Foni”), struck the east coast of Odisha with winds in excess of 180 km (equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane). That makes it the strongest storm to hit India in 20 years. In preparation for Cyclone Fani, more than a million people were evacuated in coastal areas in the Indian state Odisha by the state govt where the storm hit. Some 4000 shelters were set up in the region. Train stations and airports were closed. That saved thousands of lives and a big salute to the govt and emergency teams for that.
However, the devastation was immense.

Dignity Centre is an NGO based out of Odisha. We work across a wide variety of areas. We also provide aid and assistance during disasters like floods, cyclone, an earthquake. We worked to provide aid and support during the previous cyclones that impacted Odisha and also during the Nepal earthquake etc.
CENTRE FOR DIGNITY (CFD) was founded by a group of students & volunteers in the year 2013. It is registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 as well as under the 12 AA and 80 (G). It also works with tribal farmers to create, restore and develop small-scale water resources/ micro-irrigation structures by building community-based management institutions that support tribal farmers to mitigate climate change and assure a sustainable source of income from farming. Other areas include working closely with providing aid, advice support to women and teenage girls.
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as our NGO is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is not accepted. Receipts will be generated a little late ( about a month after the campaign ends) as most of our team will be involved in relief operations and there may be some delays.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
