THE CONTEXT :
India is home to 1 in 4 persons with blindness globally. Despite this, blind individuals face deep-rooted social exclusion, stigma, and a lack of support systems. Children are often perceived as dependent and incapable, leading to low self-esteem, poor academic outcomes, and limited career opportunities. Many families think of these children as a burden and stop sending them to school. They remain locked up at home, not knowing the world of possibilities for them.
THE SOLUTION :
EquiBeing Foundation, a not-for-profit based in Bengaluru, aims to support these children and give them a better future through a unique 'Holistic Education Initiative'. They have partnered with several Blind Schools in Bengaluru and beyond and impact holistic education. This includes public speaking, swimming, fitness, digital literacy, etc. These classes are conducted alongside the regular classes at these schools. The cost to impact a child for a year through this program is INR 27500 (this does not include the cost of the regular classes).

Established in 2022, the Foundation is driven by a lived-experience leadership model and focuses on empowering persons with blindness through digital inclusion, communication skills, sports-based development, psychosocial resilience, and inclusive pedagogy.

EquiBeing Foundation was founded in 2022 by Dr. Ananthalakshmi, a blind achiever and former Vice President-HR at global firms like Honeywell, Philips and Fidelity. Her lived experience and PhD from TISS shaped a vision for mainstreaming persons with blindness through inclusive education, digital empowerment, sports, and psychosocial wellbeing.
TAX BENEFITS:
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as the organisation, Equibeing Foundation, is a registered trust, and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT Act. Foreign funding is NOT accepted.
FAQs
Will we get feedback on the usage of funds?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Equibeing Foundation. We will update you with the report of how the funds were used. Once we get this information we shall upload a report on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the details.
When do we get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
