THE PROBLEM :
Two-thirds of rural India face power outages at least once a day. In some parts of the country, power outages last up to 11 hours at a time.
Power outages are a frequent and significant issue across UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Remote areas often face complete darkness as soon as the sun sets. Most of them spend their money on alternative energy sources such as kerosene, firewood, etc.
THE SOLUTION :
Students from DPS Gurgaon have come up with a simple yet affordable solution. The solution will help those in rural/ remote areas of UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan generate energy for themselves using pedal power (cycle). Other students and I, from Grades 9, 10, and 11, are coming together to make this a reality.
When the user pedals the cycle, a dynamo attached to the wheel will spin, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. It uses a DC motor, which will use the spin to generate electricity.

The concept is simple - Pedaling to generate electricity involves a system where human mechanical energy from pedaling is converted into electrical energy by a dynamo or alternator, and this electricity is then stored in a battery to power devices.

My name is Deetya Vashisht. I am a Grade 9 student at DPS Gurgaon, Sector 45.
I am driven by a passion to positively impact the world. Homes across UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan face significant challenges due to frequent power interruptions. This severely impacts their day-to-day activities. To address this issue, we have developed a simple and affordable solution.
Our pedal-powered cycle inverter generates electricity using a dynamo attached to the wheel, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. This innovative device can transform the lives of families across UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan for just INR 6900.
