BACKGROUND:
In India, young athletes face a significant challenge when training and playing sports under the blazing sun with little to no protection against extreme heat. With temperatures often soaring above 40°C in many parts of the country during peak summer months, these kids push themselves through practices and matches in harsh conditions where heat exhaustion and heatstroke are constant risks.
Limited access to shade, hydration, or cooling gear means they're more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses that can be serious and even life-threatening. Despite their passion and dedication to sports, these young athletes often lack the basic protective gear needed to play safely in such tough climates. Providing them with reusable cooling jackets can make a tangible difference, helping to lower body temperature, reduce heat stress, and allow them to focus on their game without compromising their health.
THE SOLUTION:
Through this crowdfunding campaign, I aim to purchase and distribute 60 reusable cooling jackets to children training in extreme heat conditions in Gurgaon through a partnership with the Mera India Mera Adhikar Foundation (MIMAF).
Features of the cooling jacket:
These cooling jackets help lower body temperature, reduce the risk of heatstroke during outdoor sports, and are lightweight, reusable, and designed for safety in high-heat conditions.
Each cooling jacket costs just INR 1100 (this includes the cost of distribution).

ABOUT THE NGO:
Mera India Mera Adhikar uses football as a tool to engage children from deprived localities in an alternative to being lost in negative influences available to them in slum localities, towards education, discipline, and positivity. The initiatives have over 50% of girls participating, providing feedback to improve the project. The opportunity provided to the participants is empowering young girls and developing their confidence to dream big.
They are working with groups like DYFA (Delhi Youth Football Academy) and Star Strikers to give our participants the opportunity to showcase their talents on other platforms. It's not only about improving their football skills but has also had an impact on reducing screen time and increasing concentration on their studies. MIMA provides safe and structured environments for the development of aspirations, confidence, and values of teamwork, leadership, and persistence in children from disadvantaged communities.

We will share updates once the jackets are distributed, including photos, interviews and an impact report from the ground.
This fundraiser is about more than distributing gear. It is about protecting kids who are showing up every day and asking for nothing more than the chance to play safely.
ABOUT ME:
My name is Aarav Aggarwal. I’m a Grade 10 student at Singapore American School, and I’ve been playing sports, especially cricket, for most of my life. I grew up in India, where practices and matches often took place in extreme heat. I remember full days spent on open grounds with no shade, sweating through every drill, and still trying to concentrate and perform. I saw friends get sick from the heat and felt that same exhaustion myself more times than I can count. Even when I was younger, I used to wonder why there was no way to make it safer.
Sports taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience, but it also showed me how overlooked basic protection can be, especially for kids training in tough conditions without proper support. Now that I’m living and studying in Singapore, I have access to more resources and the ability to make a difference. This project is my way of giving back to that experience and helping kids who are still in those same fields, playing through the same heat, but without the gear or protection they deserve.
Any funds raised beyond the goal will be used to fund more jackets for children in need.
