THE BACKGROUND:
Every year, thousands of children in India are born with congenital heart disease (CHD), a condition that requires urgent surgical intervention. These surgeries, often involving closing a hole in the heart or repairing a faulty valve, typically cost between INR 2.5 to 5 lakhs at hospitals.
For children who come from low-cost homes, this cost becomes impossible to pay. Many children never even reach the hospital due to financial constraints, and some who do are forced to leave untreated. Faced with this impossible choice, parents are often pushed into lifelong debt or, heartbreakingly, are forced to forgo treatment altogether.
This reality is often devastating and in many cases, innocent lives are lost simply because they couldn’t afford heart surgery.
THE SOLUTION:
The Needy Heart Foundation is an NGO based in Bengaluru that has been working to save the lives of children with Congenital Heart Diseases. They have partnerships with 9 top hospitals in Bengaluru. These heart surgeries are done at a significantly lower cost of INR 1.5L approx. Net of government subsidies, which are given to children from BPL (Below Poverty Line) homes. The NHF supports these surgeries by contributing INR 35,000, with the remaining costs covered by government funding or other NGOs.

My name is ANUSHKA JAIN. I am a 16-year-old and a Grade 11 student at DPS, Bangalore North. I am doing this campaign to help a child from a low-income family receive life-saving heart surgery.
Every year, thousands of children in India are born with congenital heart disease. For families from low-income homes, this amount is impossible to afford. That’s where the Needy Heart Foundation steps in. By working with top hospitals in Bengaluru and using government support and donations, they are able to bring down the cost significantly. Even then, there is still a shortfall of INR 35,000 per surgery.
Since 2002, the Needy Heart Foundation has helped over 11,790 children get the treatment they need. In 2024-25 alone, they’ve supported more than 700 children.
Through this campaign, I want to raise funds that will help children get the care they deserve and help save lives. I truly believe that together, we can give them a healthy heart and a bright future. This saves lives and brings cheer to the family.

Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks, as the Needy Heart Foundation is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under Section 80G of the IT Act. Foreign funding is NOT accepted.

FAQs
Will we get to know the details of the child who benefitted?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Needy Heart Foundation (NHF). It will take 2-6 months after that to get details of who the beneficiary child was with details of the parents, their picture, etc. Once I get this information from the team, I shall upload this to the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the beneficiary.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes a week after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
