ABOUT ME AND MY CAMPAIGN:
My name is Nyrika Mahtani, and I’m an 11-year-old student at Hill Spring International School in Mumbai. I live a normal life, going to school, spending time with friends, and learning new things.
I was heartbroken to learn that millions of children in India are denied something as basic as education and communication. Thousands of deaf children are left behind, not because they can’t learn, but because they’re never given the chance. Most schools simply aren’t equipped to meet their needs.
This injustice really struck me. How can something so basic still be out of reach for so many?
That’s when I came across the incredible work of DEEDS Public Charitable Trust and the Bajaj Institute of Learning in Dehradun. DEEDS is an NGO that is very close to my heart, supporting Deaf children and youth across India. I knew I had to help.
THE SOLUTION:
Founded in 1998, DEEDS (Development Education Empowerment for the Disadvantaged in Society) is one of India’s only NGOs focused solely on empowering the Deaf. For over 25 years, they’ve offered free education, skill-building, and job placement, transforming the lives of 21,000+ Deaf individuals and helping over 2,100 Deaf youth find jobs across India.
Their school in Dehradun, the Bajaj Institute of Learning (BIL), is a beacon of hope. It provides:
Free education from Nursery to Grade 12.
Vocational training, like tailoring, baking, computer skills, and hospitality.
A warm, supportive environment where children learn to communicate through Indian Sign Language (ISL).
And most importantly, confidence, dignity, and a bright future.

For many of these children, that’s an impossible sum. But together, we can change that.
This campaign is my humble effort to raise INR 1,00,000 to sponsor the complete education of one Deaf child at the Bajaj Institute of Learning for a full year.
