Mikjumang(Reverie): A Waking Dream - Help Bring a Mythic Story from Meghalaya to Life.

Mikjumang means “waking dream” in Garo, a dream that lingers long after waking, revealing a world just beyond our own.
Set in the filmmaker’s hometown of Tura, Meghalaya, this magical realist film follows Agame, a seventy-year-old matriarch who lives between two worlds: the everyday and the spirit realm. Each morning, her deceased sister visits her in the form of an animal, inviting Agame to cross the boundary between life and death.
Blending psychological drama with Garo folklore, Mikjumang is both a personal meditation on loss and a cultural act of preservation. At a time when voices from Northeast India remain largely unheard in cinema, this film offers a rare and intimate glimpse into a worldview where the supernatural is not fantasy, but lived reality.
To complete this dream, we’re facing a shortfall of INR 6L, and we need your support to help bring this story to life.
Scroll down to see the detailed cost breakup of the INR 6L

We aim to raise INR 6 lakhs to bring this deeply personal and culturally rooted story to life. Your contribution will directly support the post-production costs to complete the film; expenses to market, distribute and publicise the film once it's completed; film festival submission costs and fair wages for our local cast and crew.
THE STORY:

Pic: A still shot from the Mikjumang Reverie movie set.
Set in the remote Christian town of Tura, Mikjumang tells the story of a woman navigating grief and ancestral connections in solitude. As Agame carries out her duties as the elder of her clan, she also responds to the mystical visitations of her dead sister, each one a call from the spirit world that blurs the line between memory, myth, and reality.
By supporting Mikjumang Reverie, you’re not just helping make a film, you’re preserving a vanishing oral tradition, supporting local storytellers, and championing indigenous Northeast Indian cinema.
