Due to inadequate food access, orphaned children in India often suffer from malnutrition and experience stunted growth, weakened immunity, and developmental delays. While government schemes and NGOs are attempting to address these issues, gaps in implementation remain. To ensure that every child receives adequate nutrition, it is imperative to broaden the scope of providing regular nutritional meals.
Malnutrition is a pressing issue among Indian children, especially orphans. The Global Nutrition Report 2021 revealed alarming statistics: 7.7% of children suffer from severe wasting, 19.3% are wasted, and 35.5% are stunted. (Source: National Center of Biotechnology Information).
SWIS Foundation is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) with a mission to empower marginalized communities by providing access to quality education, food, healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. They have identified the Sundarbans Orphanage Mission located at Rajpur Sonapur (45 mins from Kolkata) in the 24 Parganas (South) district of West Bengal and are supporting them with ration kits for all the orphaned children. These kits translate into meals for the children - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This impacts their health, education, and overall well-being. The cost includes the cost of "cooking the food - ie, cooks, gas, utensils, equipment, etc".
Just INR 1000, will help provide a child with essential food for a month. INR 12000 impacts a child for a entire year.
The children residing at the orphanage attend the Sundarban AA Shikshayatan Mission School, conveniently located within the same campus and operated by the Sundarbans Orphanage Mission.
The Sundarbans Orphanage Mission is facing a critical shortage of food supplies and struggles to provide meals for the children in its care. Limited funding and rising costs make it increasingly difficult to meet daily nutritional needs, leaving many children without a full, nourishing meal. SWIS Foundation is committed to supporting this orphanage in overcoming these challenges.
Join us in making a meaningful difference by supporting the provision of ration kits for these children. Your contribution will help provide them with essential food, ensuring they receive the nutrition they need to grow and thrive. Together, we can address the nutritional gap and offer these young lives the opportunity to live healthy and with dignity.
My name is Ayushi Bal. I am 13 years old and a Grade 8th student at Adamas World School, Barasat.
I have undertaken this campaign to support the orphan children in Sunderbans through a monthly ration kit. A large percentage of these children are malnourished.
The right nutrition and being healthy is a critical element for every child in our country. The happiness they experience by just receiving one meal in a day is immeasurable.
Children from these orphanages are often malnourished. Malnourished children mostly drop out of school because they don't get enough to eat, resulting in fatigue and illness. Through this campaign, you not only motivate students to go to school but also ensure that they remain healthy and continue with their education.
The cost to impact a child for an entire year is only INR 12000. Kindly support this campaign and let's impact their lives.

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
