Food insecurity is a harsh reality for thousands of families in Hyderabad. Despite being an IT hub, the city struggles with systemic inefficiencies and economic challenges that worsen hunger. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this issue, with nearly 40% of households experiencing a decline in food security.
Key Challenges:
Urban Poverty: Daily-wage workers face fluctuating incomes and rising prices, making nutritious food a luxury.
Child Malnutrition: Telangana's stunting rate is 37.4%, and wasting rate is 18% among children under five.
In Yellamma Banda, Hyderabad, many families struggle to access basic essentials like rice, groceries, and other necessities. This campaign aims to provide vital support to 50 such families.
Effective meal programs, timely funding, and community support are crucial to combat hunger and malnutrition in the region.
THE SOLUTION:
To combat hunger and address the broader needs of underprivileged communities, Hope of Hunger, an NGO, is working towards creating a world where every individual can lead life in a loving and compassionate environment. Recognizing that hunger extends beyond food to include love, care, and dignity, Hope of Hunger implements several impactful initiatives:
Feeding the Hungry: Freshly cooked meals and nutritious snacks are served to the needy, including schoolchildren, along with emotional support and care.
Providing Essentials: Groceries and daily necessities are distributed to families, enabling them to prepare healthy meals.
Through crowdfunding, I am planning to raise funds to support 50 underprivileged families in Yellamma Banda, Hyderabad, by providing them with ration packs that will sustain them for three months.
All it costs is INR 600 to feed a family for three months.
