PROJECT MUDITA :
As a part of Project Mudita, I and my friends from the Hill Spring International school are raising funds to help and support cancer patients. Mudita is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘joy’ and the project aims to convey that no one should face cancer alone and together we can bring joy and help improve their lives.
Project Mudita was started by a group of students at Hill Spring as a fun fair event to create awareness about the day-to-day problems of cancer patients. We had visited cancer patients at TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL last year and distributed cancer Kits to patients at the hospital. The family of these patients were truly happy. We then realized while talking to them that their biggest concern and pain point was their stay in Mumbai.
The team at the NGO V Care foundation assists these patients with their financial, moral and medical needs. For those who come from villages for cancer treatment taking care of their stay eliminates a lot of stress both financially and mentally. Our initiative with V Care Foundation is to provide a stay close to the hospital to the patients and their caregivers during the course of their treatment.
Most of them average a stay of 90 days for all their chemo and other treatments. The minimum cost of providing stay to a cancer patient and his family (for a maximum of 4 members ) would be just INR 500 per day which works out to about INR 15000 over a 30 day period.
HELP ME RAISE INR 15000 AND IMPACT ONE CANCER PATIENT FOR A MONTH.
HOW ARE WE DOING THIS?
I am doing this crowdfunding campaign in partnership with the Mumbai based NGO, V CARE FOUNDATION. They are a voluntary support group dedicated to providing free help, hope, awareness, and education to cancer patients and their families through outreach programs and services that improve the quality of their lives.
Since the V CARE FOUNDATION is an NGO, any funding made to this campaign is eligible for tax exemption under 80G of IT Act 196. They accept payments from outside India as well.
The money raised will be given directly after the campaign ends to V CARE FOUNDATION. They will then use the funds to provide stay to cancer patients and their family. You will get an update on which of the patient and his family have been benefitted from your funding. THIS CAMPAIGN HAS 80G TAX BENEFITS.
ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Jahnavi Choraria and I am studying in the 11 Class at Hill Spring International School.
Although I don't volunteer at V Care, I feel it is my duty to help cancer patients. From time to time I find different ways to participate in such causes, sometimes by having bake sales or by teaching at various NGOs.
PICTURE OF A TYPICAL PLACE TO STAY :
V Care Foundation is a voluntary support group dedicated to providing free help, hope, awareness and education to cancer patients and their families through outreach programs and services that improve the quality of their lives.
V Care Foundation is based in Mumbai and started by Ms. Vandana Gupta. She was diagnosed with a form of Cancer known as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma 24 years back and survived it with COURAGE and FAITH. It was this very adamant determination, that made her realize that she should give back to the society with the knowledge of being on the other side of Cancer Journey. That became her promise, that became her mission. Setting up of V Care was instrumental in her emotional recovery. Cancer gave her patience, perspective and gratitude. Through her survivorship, she is able to provide hope to others.
The team at V Care unite for the patients, the fighters, for the families, the caregivers, and the friends who are no longer with us.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds.
You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
