Did you know that only 12% of women in India use sanitary napkins?
Did you know that only 42% of women receive them?
Did you know that there are 355 mn menstruating women in India?
Did you know that 88% of them opt for alternatives like dirty cloth, ashes, and husk?
Did you also know that Reproductive Tract Infections are 70% more common among them?
India, which is a developing nation is one of the leading countries that account for deaths due to cervical cancer. A new case is diagnosed in the country every 4 minutes, with a woman dying every 15 minutes. It is in our hands to help them. To provide them with basic necessities. To be a part of their womanhood. To give them something that every woman needs for her survival, for a healthy survival: Something as basic as a Sanitary Napkin.
ABOUT ME AND THE CAMPAIGN
Greetings to all. I am Vanshika Sood from Podar International School. LIKE CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, SANITATION AND HYGIENE BEGIN WITH YOU AND ME.
This campaign is to raise funds for providing women in rural areas with sanitary napkins. A sanitary napkin is one of the basic necessities for women and so I wish to give them the same. The cost of supplying low-cost sanitary napkins to one woman with a year’s supply is just INR 500. Help me raise a minimum of INR 1L and we can together help 200 women and transform their lives.
As a woman, I understand their needs and I am sure all of you out there can relate to the same. We can only grow as a nation if we have each other’s back. As people from families that are economically sound, it is our sacred duty to ensure that the ones from a less privileged background, who are without the provision of these napkins receive it. Please join me in CHANGING MANY LIVES of school going girls and women. Whether it’s your daughter, sister, wife or mother lets all help them embrace their womanhood.
SANITARY NAPKINS ARE NOT JUST A CHOICE, THEY ARE A NEED.
HOW WILL THIS MONEY BE USED?
- I have partnered with an NGO who will execute this project.
- It’s called Indian Development Foundation (IDF) and is in Goregaon(W) Mumbai
- All the monies collected will be given to them.
- Since they are an NGO any donation will be eligible for an 80G tax receipt.
- The money is used to buy and provide the girls and women with the sanitary napkins.
Every donation counts, let’s all do this not for us, but for them. For those women who need it and for our nation which we wish to see grow.
All funding for this campaign has tax benefits. Receipts will be issued by IDF which is a registered NGO. Indian citizens can avail of 80G tax benefits.
WHERE WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
The funds generated in this campaign will be used to provide the kits to girls studying in schools and Bal Gurukul in Mumbai. For example:
a. St. Catherine School, Veera Desai, Andheri (W)
b. Vimala Centre, Versova, Andheri (W)
c. Anjuman Islam School, Bandra (W)
d. St. Mathew's High School & Junior College, Malvani, Malad (W)
e. Gurukul High School, Malvani Malad (W)
IDF focusses on a wide variety of initiatives as an NGO. The project which I am supporting is part of the Dignity Project-Health and Sanitation campaign that aims to empower adolescent girls.
IDF overarching aim is to contribute to the all round development of the children in its Bal Gurukuls and schools associated with Bal Gurukuls across the country in cities, towns and far fledged places making the reach easier. To tackle the problem of menstrual hygiene management in girls IDF’s Dignity Project-Health Sanitation campaign addresses the following concerns in India.
ABOUT DIGNITY PROJECT-HEALTH SANITATION CAMPAIGN
It supports underprivileged girls studying in BMC schools in Mumbai by providing them with Sanitary Napkins.
All it takes is Rs.500/- to support one girl's personal hygiene for the whole year, predominantly underprivileged girls aged 12 and above.
Will we get to know the details on how the money was spent?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to IDF. It will take from 30 to 90 days after that to get details of who the beneficiary was with details of them. Once I get this information from them I shall upload a group picture of the girls who were provided with the kit on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to NGO. The receipts will start getting processed about 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries
