THE BACKGROUND:
In India, about one out of every live birth is affected by congenital cardiac anomalies.
This means that approximately 180,000 to 200,000 children are born with CHD each year, and a significant portion of them require immediate intervention due to critical conditions. Unfortunately, due to their families' limited financial resources, many of these children are unable to access the necessary surgeries to treat their conditions.

THE SOLUTION:
To address this problem, Rotary Banglore Junction, are committed to helping these children receive their life-saving heart surgeries. The Rotary Club has collaborated with one of the best cardiovascular hospitals in India, the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (JICSR) to provide heart surgeries to children from underprivileged families.
These pediatric heart surgeries are done at a subsidized cost of between 1 L to 1.5 L depending on the complexity of the case. Grants and other donors and subsidies from paid surgeries will take care of part of the costs. In addition, there is a subsidy from the government, as these children are from BPL families.
This makes medical care more accessible and affordable for those who need it. We need just INR 40,000 to make the surgery happen. This hospital is also the NABH-accredited Children’s Hospital in Karnataka.

My name is RTN SURESH A, I am a concerned citizen and am doing this initiative to literally save lives.
The plight of families of children from low-income families who cannot afford life-saving heart surgeries is to be seen to be believed. As a result, children with heart complications are unable to receive the treatment they desperately need. But together, we can make a difference.
I firmly believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and it should not be limited to those who can afford it. One of the reasons I am particularly passionate about this cause is that heart surgeries can be performed at a relatively low cost.

ABOUT ROTARY BANGALORE JUNCTION:
Rotary Bangalore Junction is a service organization under Rotary International located in the city of Bengaluru. With a team of excellent members, Rotary Bangalore Junction is often recognized as one of the most Energetic Rotary Clubs in the Country. The projects undertaken by them are the Rotary India Literacy mission to ensure 100 percent literacy, the Rotary India Water mission, aiming at water conservation through rainwater harvesting, and Project Positive Health, which is one of their flagship programs.
NEEDY HEART FOUNDATION:
The Needy Heart Foundation is an organization dedicated to helping marginalized heart patients. They provide counselling, gather case histories, and work with partner hospitals to offer state-of-the-art treatment at affordable rates. Their mission is to ensure that poor patients receive timely heart operations, giving them new hope in life. They also create awareness through media and direct interventions in target communities.
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL:
Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology Bangalore is a tertiary care autonomous institute run by the Government of Karnataka. Located on Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore, it is a 1630-bed hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. Presently, it serves close to 3000 patients daily. The key person at this hospital is Dr C.N Manjunath (Director and Prof Cardiology) They have conducted over 4586 Open Heart Surgeries and 28555 Coronary Angiograms. 17747 Procedures Angioplasties and 54371 Cath lab procedures were performed in the year 2022.
TAX BENEFITS:
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Rotary Bangalore Junction is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT Act. Foreign funding is NOT accepted.
