SYNOPSIS
Unconscious guilt has a way of finding its way back to the conscious.
After coming home to a misplaced book kept on her reading chair, Vartika, a school teacher, becomes afraid of a stalker trying to gain entry into her and her husband's home. Her paranoia starts to spiral out of control after receiving anonymous messages of her house being recorded on video and being followed when she steps out of the house. But the reason for these occurrences and her paranoia might be rooted in her past and a recent event that brought it all back, and Vartika would have to make a choice to escape before the occurrences become fatal.
DECAY is a surrealist and psychological English-language thriller short film set in Bengaluru.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Aditya Chowdhury is an independently operating filmmaker based out of Bengaluru. A student of documentary filmmaker Kavita Joshi, a Film and Television Institute of India, Pune alum, he started by assisting her behind the camera and creating promotional videos for NGOs operating in New Delhi, such as The Football Link and The Robin Hood Army.
His first feature film, Eclipsed, came out in 2018 and was an award-winning film that was showcased in various international film festivals across the globe before being distributed on MXPlayer. 'Of Autumn & Spring' was his first short film and second film as a director. He has also been screened, at several international film festivals as well.

Being an avid cinephile with interests beyond the usual commercial cinema, Aditya hopes to evolve as an independent filmmaker with time and take control of his craft little by little.
TEAM IN ACTION
Being independent filmmakers, we have the experience of working with little to no budget on our films, and hence understand the value of funds we procure for our films. For the production, we were fortunate enough to have enough to complete the shoot without any funding issues. Locations and equipment rented out fell within our stipulated budget and careful oversight by the production manager and co-producers helped us use the funds judiciously. It would be unfair to say we didn’t have to cut corners at times to suit the limited budget we had, but now that we are done with production, we also realize the importance of getting good funding for post-production to do justice to all the efforts that the complete crew and cast put into the production. These funds would enable us to work with specialists in different areas of post-production – editing, sound design, score design, and colour grading, and then finally submit the film to various film festivals across the globe based on our experience from the festival circuit in the past.

TIMELINE
Those of you who fund us, the cast, crew, and their families will get to watch the film at a private cinema screening. We would be starting on the film festival submissions from June 2023, and the film would stay in the film festival circuit for roughly a year based on our past experience. But we would be deciding on distribution options on OTT platforms during this year, and hence, for the general public, the film should release roughly around June 2024.
