Rural India accounts for nearly 69% of the total population but has only 26% of the total hospital beds and 33% of the total healthcare professionals. There is a need to increase awareness on health risk factors, set up medical infrastructure and to carry out opportunistic screening at primary health care levels in rural areas. Providing continuum of care from early detection to and improving quality of care is a critical factor for leading a healthy life. It can also lead to decrease in morbidity and mortality due to heart and stroke.
To ensure quality healthcare is available to everyone, the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers is on a mission to help set up a 'Healthcare Unit on Wheels'. We believe that the mobile healthcare vehicle will play a significant role in efficiently serving the vulnerable in remote and hard to reach areas while also providing cost-effective primary healthcare services.
(Above: A mobile unit that is currently in use.)
The vehicles will drive through villages in Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts to provide healthcare services to those who have no access to hospitals and to those who cannot afford it. The vehicles will be equipped with basic diagnostic equipment and medicines. A team consisting of a nurse, a pharmacist, social worker and an assistant travel to villages in The Mobile Medical Clinic.
The mobile clinic will be linked to a referral hospital via telemedicine to offer expert guidance then and there. The vehicle is expected to impact over 25000 people in a year.
It costs JUST INR 160 to provide healthcare facilities to a person.
This sustainable and scalable initiative will be innovative and will certainly change health care delivery in the rural areas and will help in preventing chronic diseases and also help in identifying them early so that they can be treated.
IF YOU FUND,
INR 4000, You impact 25 persons.
INR 8000, You impact 50 persons.
INR 16000, You impact 100 persons.
ALL FUNDING HAS 80G BENEFITS.
The van will run through rural areas in Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts. Volunteers will connect with local panchayat leaders and inform them about the van arriving in their locality. Baseline tests will be done for all individuals. If anything abnormal is found, more detailed testing is done. If required a free doctor consultation is also be done via the telemedicine facility. The patients will then be referred to the local PHC’s.
Plans will be made so that the van returns to the same village once In a few months to do a follow up.
Diagnosis and treatment will be provided for:
My name is AMUDHA. I am a concerned citizen.
It is disheartening to know that many rural areas in India do not have adequate healthcare facilities. Medical care is a fundamental right to every citizen. We need to make sure that everyone has equal access to hospitals and clinics irrespective of their location or financial status.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think a ‘Mobile Medical Clinic' is a remarkable concept. The services would be provided to the underprivileged at their doorstep. The vehicles will be equipped with basic diagnostic equipment and medicines. This would be ideal to diagnose and treat illnesses. All it costs is INR 160 to provide these services to a person.
Please support my campaign and let us together transform the lives of the underprivileged.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
