People from all walks of life come to this temple and all of them are served meals for free. This is a gesture that is called Annadanam and goes back hundreds of years and is a tradition. "Annam" means food and "danam" is the act of giving or donating. This campaign is raising funds to support the Annadanam initiative at this temple.
THE TEMPLE
Malliyoor Maha Ganapathy temple is situated near a small town called Kuruppanthara, in the Kottayam District of Kerala. The temple belongs to South Kerala Division. It is believed that a saint from Malliyoor after a pilgrimage to the northern regions brought the Ganapati idol and installed it about 1500 yers ago. The name of the temple is synonymous with the name of the main priest Sankaran Nampoothiri. He has dedicated his humble life to the worship of Lord Ganapathy and to the rendering and exposition of the Bhagavatham. Today, thousands of devotees flock to the feet of Vasihnava Ganapthy at Malliyoor seeking eternal salvation form the bonds of Karma and solace from the evils of Kaliyuga.
THE BACKDROP
The Temple is a sacred abode of all – encompassing divine presence of Lord Ganesha and is also a coveted destination for lakhs of pilgrims from all over India. The Temple provides Annadanam (sacred serving of meals) to all visitors. This is the 4th largest Annadanam provided by any temple in Kerala.
The practice of Annadnam was started by the Malliyoor family to serve food. No one was allowed to pass through the temple with a hungry stomach. They served everyone regardless their caste or religion. This tradition has been carried on for years now.
THE INITIATIVE
A few concerned citizens and I, have taken it upon ourselves to help the Malliyoor Temple trust carry on the tradition of serving meals to the devotees. This is a very important part of the temple activities and is critical that it continue for years to come.During special occasions like Sabarimala Manadala Makaravilakku, more than twenty thousand people are provided with Annadanam on a daily basis.
It costs just INR 40 to serve one meal.
THE MEAL THAT IS SERVED
The meals are served in the traditional Kerala Sadhya style which includes rice, sambar, vegetables, pickles, sweets and more.

WHERE IS THE TEMPLE LOCATED?
ABOUT MALLIYOOR SREE GANAPATHY TEMPLE
The history of the temple dates back to the Pre-Perumal era of Kerala. It is believed that a saint from Malliyoor after a pilgrimage to the northern regions brought the Ganapati idol about 1500 yers ago. It then went into eclipse, unattended and uncared for and remained as a silent testimony to the rich cultural heritage.
It was Malliyoor Sankaran Namboothiri, who brought the much-needed reawakening to the temple. Sankaran Namboothiri was an exponent of Srimad Bhagavatha puran and was called Bhagavathahamsam. He used to recite Srimad Bhagavatham everyday in the temple by keeping the salagram, the iconic symbol and reminder of Lord Vishnu as Paramatma. In fact, the continuous recitation of Srimad Bhagavathom placing the ‘Salagaram’ in the sanctum sanctorum of Ganesha changed the Beeja Ganapathy into Vaishanava Ganapathy. The deity of Ganesha, placing Little Krishna on his lap while listening to the Mahapuran is the symbol of flow of knowledge from a high consciousness to the younger generations.
Today, Malliyoor Maha Ganapati Temple is a major attraction to both Krishna and Ganesha devotees who arrive throughout the year in significant numbers.
TAX BENEFITS
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Malliyoor Adhyathmika Peedham is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Funding from those with foreign passports is not eligible. If you are an Indian staying abroad you can fund this campaign.

Will we get to know the details of how the funds have been used?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Malliyoor Adhyathmika Peedham. The Trust will update me with the report of the details of the beneficiaries as soon as possible. Once we get this information we shall upload a report on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do we get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
