My name is Rozita Singh and I am from New Delhi, India. I have been selected from among hundreds of applicants to be part of a 150-person team journeying to Antarctica on the 2041 Climate Force Antarctic Expedition in March 2022. The team comprises of citizens from every continent (except Antarctica itself), united in a common mission to benefit our home planet.
The total expedition cost comes to approx INR 14.40L. Through this crowdfunding campaign, I aim to raise INR 8.5L or more. I will fund any balance amount from my pocket and other sponsorships.
- It's a 12 day expedition in Antarctica from 17th to 28th March 2022.
- The total cost for the expedition is INR 14.40L.
- The 150 member team is on a mission to fight climate change.
- The aim is to realize the urgent need for real-world solutions to address climate change and protect the environment for generations to come.
I describe myself as the green sheep of my family. Hailing from a family of doctors, I chose a path less traveled. My journey in sustainability kick started at the age of 19 when I was selected as an International Climate Change champion by British Council.
I pursued my Bachelors in Journalism and later was inspired to pursue the world’s very first Masters in Sustainable Development Practice course that was launched in TERI University in India back in 2010! I later went on to spread awareness about waste management and composting in my home city- New Delhi through indigenous terracotta composters of Daily Dump.
Currently I am Head of Solutions mapping in UNDP India’s Accelerator Lab which is part of the world’s largest and fastest learning network on innovations for SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). I work everyday to scout and scale the most impactful innovations in social and environmental domains with my 90 other counterparts across 114 countries! As a sustainable development practitioner, my vision and contribution has been in terms of ‘connecting the dots’ wherever I go and breaking the culture of silos.
As a ‘green sheep’ and as a sustainable development professional, I have been selected from among hundreds of candidates to join the 2041 Climate Force Antarctic Expedition in March 2022.
WHAT IS THE 2041 MISSION ABOUT? WHY NOW?
For decades, the effects of climate change have been more and more visible in the Antarctic: glaciers and ice shelves melting and breaking off prematurely, sea ice disappearing, critically disrupted ecosystems and food chains, and more. A 50 year treaty prohibiting any kind of resource exploitation in Antarctica ends in 2041. Sir Robert Swan, the first person to have walked to both the North and South Poles, started the ”2041” Foundation to spread solutions to mitigate climate change, to bring attention to Antarctica’s present condition, and to create leaders by 2041 to protect this treaty.
As the world’s most dynamic Antarctic sea expedition, it is a unique 12-day educational journey by Sir Robert Swan and team to ‘the Last Great Wilderness on Earth’. It is an opportunity for participants to connect and learn from the natural environments most affected by climate change, and to realize the urgent need for real-world solutions to address these issues. There is no better teacher than the immediacy of “being there”.
Our expedition ship: Ocean Victory uses 60% less energy than other ships of comparable size, and has the lowest carbon emissions per passenger in the entire industry.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
Since the past 13 years, I have committed my life towards the service of the planet.
I have designed and executed large-scale research programs for global multilateral organisations such as USAID, Rockefeller Foundation, UNEP facilitated Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD), Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED) among others. I have also published journal articles in peer reviewed publications. I have worked in the corporate sector to drive circular economy strategy in the Netherlands. I am already taking a number of actions to make this planet a better place but there is a lot that needs to be done and I cannot do this alone.
For me this expedition is not a trip but a pilgrimage that aligns with my vision to continuously preserve the environment.
As I follow my professional trajectory in global sustainability leadership - working first in policy research, inter-governmental space, corporate space, and now in the domain of innovation for SDGs - my mission will be further fuelled through this program. My dreams are big and I need each and everyone’s support for realizing the same. We have no time to lose and miles to go before we sleep.
The time is NOW to make a big impact on organisations in the planet- for fighting climate change.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
