End-Stage Renal Disease ( ESRD) is a condition where the "KIDNEYS" do not function. The only solution for those with this kidney issue is dialysis or a kidney transplant. Kidney transplants are too expensive.
Dialysis is one of the first technological innovations in medicine - and the only treatment that does not involve transplant, and yet allows a patient with end-stage organ failure to live long healthy, and productive lives. Dialysis removes the “waste” chemicals that accumulate in the blood because the failed kidneys are unable to excrete them.
Without dialysis, a patient will NOT SURVIVE.
This is very expensive as it needs to be done 8-10 times a month and most people from the middle class and poor homes cannot afford this. It takes a severe toll on the finances of the household.
Dialysis doesn’t completely replace kidney function. It replaces a portion of the function performed by the kidney. However, the same if done regularly has been found to be sufficient to help patients have a relatively good quality of life. However, dialysis does come with its challenges.
Dialysis is an expensive process and costs an upward INR 1200 per sitting in Mumbai, on an avg. people would require 8-10 sittings. This makes it inaccessible to the urban poor.
Giving dialysis at a subsidised cost to these patients is the only solution.
I have partnered with Lion Kartar Hospital in Andheri to help these patients. They provide dialysis at a subsidised rate of INR 1000 in the day. My campaign is to help people who come for an emergency in the night when their condition is extremely serious and they are barely able to breathe. At this time the dialysis cost is more as they have to open the centre, specifically for that patient.A technician has to be available at the centre at this hour. The medicines and other expenses also add up making it unaffordable.
This campaign of mine aims to raise as much as possible to fund a large number of patients and their dialysis needs. It's all about "SAVING LIVES - ONE DIALYSIS AT A TIME".
ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN
I am YUVNA KUMAR, 17 years old and a Grade 12 student at Jamnabai Narsee School.

This initiative of mine is to help those who find it difficult to afford to get dialysis in Mumbai, especially at night. It is a lifelong need and puts a big strain on their pocket financially. My efforts will help sustain life, especially during these turbulent times. These patients need dialysis to survive and I think it is our responsibility to ensure that we provide them with whatever support we can extend. It costs just INR 1000 per dialysis and INR 8000 to impact a patient for a month (8 times a month).
With your help, I would like to help as many patients for as long as possible.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation and you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
