Did you know that Mumbai is ranked second in India wrt crimes against women/ girls? The city reported 4530+ such cases against women last year.
This includes cases related to rape, harassment, threat, and robbery. Girls and women from low-income homes in Mumbai are most prone to these crimes. They often are not aware of the simple precautions they can take to avoid such incidents.
The violation whistle has been designed as a pocket-sized hand held device that makes a piercing siren noise when activated. The noise can be heard 75 feet away and does not stop unless a button is pressed. This gives the woman enough time to disorient the attacker, leave and gather attention without using force.
My friends and I have taken it upon ourselves to put an end to crimes against girls and women. Through Project Kanya Suraksha, we aspire to make a change in the lives of underprivileged women and work towards the reduction crimes by distributing violation whistles. This is being done in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bombay Hanging Garden who would help with the distribution of the whistles.
Each whistle costs just INR 100.

THE PROPOSED PACKAGING
My name is Ishika Bhatia. I am 17 years old and in Grade 12 at the ABIS.
It is extremely disheartening to know that many underprivileged women in Mumbai face harassment and threat on a regular basis. To solve this problem, we have started Project Kanya Suraksha.
Kanya Suraksha literally translated, as the ‘safety of a girl’ is a project that aims to eradicate harassment and rape in Mumbai. We aspire to create a change and make Mumbai safe for all women and girls.
Through this campaign, we are committed to help women in Mumbai slums feel more safe and secure by giving them violation whistles. The whistle is cost effective, easy to use and will help keep them safe at all times. We are mainly focusing on the less fortunate in Mumbai.
It costs just INR 100 to give the Gift of Safety to one woman. Please support my campaign and together let's make Mumbai a safer place.
WHERE WILL THE WHISTLES BE DISTRIBUTED?

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation and you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
