THE BACKGROUND
Money is needed from the day we are born till the day we die. Yet, a number of women feel that handling money is a man’s job. A lack of knowledge about money and a lack of financial freedom leads them to settle with suboptimal choices, be it staying in bad marriages, or suffering oppression and abuse. Even a number of working and empowered women sometimes have little knowledge of how money works or how to optimally manage their money.
Look around you. Do you know of any families where women make financial decisions and handle money? Very rare right !! This needs to change. Women need to equip themselves with the basic skills of finance and empower themselves.
THE SOLUTION
MOOLAH was started by Meeta Gupta in July 2020 to financially empower urban women so that they are ready to face the world. Moolah aims to handhold each woman in her personal journey to reach her own financial goal by teaching them about finance and money. In its current form, Moolah has over 700 women enrolled on numerous WhatsApp groups (only through word of mouth), where a one-minute read is posted every day.

Moolah now plans to expand from a literacy forum to hand-holding women from A to Z with respect to their financial journey and financial goals. To accomplish this, we need to build a team, have a website, reach out to more urban women through social media etc. All this requires funds. This will help us reach out to a wider target audience and provide a safe haven for women to take control of their finances with confidence.
The total funds required for the campaign is INR 20L and this will help impact 5000 women in Year 1 (It thus costs just INR 400 to impact 1 woman). Read the story below to see the breakup of the costs.
THE ROAD AHEAD :
Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube are now being used to increase the reach of Moolah, and to deliver interesting, fun, and meaningful content. There are also workshops and webinars on various topics being conducted with experts being called to help increase the knowledge of interested women.
HOW CAN WE DO THIS?
FUND GENEROUSLY:

INR 10,000 will empower 25 women.
INR 20,000 will help 50 women gain financial freedom.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER :
Meeta Gupta is a seasoned finance professional. She did her MBA in Finance from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, Mumbai in 1992 and thereafter worked in a number of corporate jobs including Deutsche Bank and L&T FHL.
After having spent over 25 years in corporate jobs, in July 2020, Meeta decided to give it all up and pursue her dream, her passion, to financially empower women so that they could break away from the shackles of social conditioning that "Finance is not for women."
Moolah is now just over a year old and has already touched the lives of over 700 women. Her vision is to empower every woman who desires to achieve financial freedom.
